Esquisse three – 3D translation

Background

Designers have over the centuries been inspired by the forms of nature. As nature has evolved elegant ways to deal with structure and often appears complex and undecipherable. It is important through careful observation that we learn to understand the geometric and repetitive patterns that often exist.

Process

Find a product in nature that demonstrates geometry (flower, seed pod or leaf) and translate into a geometrical form using Solid works or Rhino. By fracturing the form you will then be able to print the flat pattern on paper and fold this into a representation of the original.

Submission

Document natural forms through photography or sketch and submit these plus three variations in paper. Please note attention to detail is critical to achieving a good result.
